“Wishin and Hopin”

On this Independence Day why am I humming Dionne Warwick? Because on this day over two centuries ago, humankind did more than “wishin and hopin.” They did more than dreaming, they acted on their dreams. I believe deep down in every man, woman, and child we have the strength to act out our dreams. Those dreams may be obscured by demands, disasters, obligations, and fears, but the power to act on our dreams is still there in some form and with God’s help is only a moment away. The miraculous demonstration of that power was acted out that July Fourth so many moons ago, and will continue to come forth as long a humankind still exists and one person decides to do more than “wishin and hopin.”
