Trouble

Man is born to trouble. — Job 5:7a

And call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me. — Psalm 50:15
Every now and then my grandmother would say, “Child, you ain’t nothing but trouble today.” Whatever one’s age, trouble seems to seek us out, and at times it seems you are just recovering from one trouble when another trouble rears its ugly head.
More often than not when we call on God when we are in trouble, his answer isn’t exactly what we expected. I have come to understand that the reason for a different answer is often because the trouble we are in is not what we thought it was. For example we think we have a “need more money problem”, when in fact we have a “spending problem.” (Not a good example of an issue we need to bring to God, but it make the point. Then again maybe it is a problem we need to bring to God if it is separating us from him.).
I have also learned that it is in times of trouble that I have grown spiritually the most. We tend to close our ears to God when things are going well.
When trouble bangs on the door look on its knocking as a time for needed change and the reality of the presence of God in our life.
