Slow To Anger

Do not make friends with hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared. — Proverbs 22:24 – 25.

When I was younger and an older friend would explode at a seemingly trivial matter I would blame it on his blood pressure being out of whack. Now that I’m older, and I’m put on hold by some service center I blame my rising anger on the terrible music. If it is anything I must constantly watch and control, it is those tiny sparks that begin in my heart I soon let spread bringing pain and angst to all in its path.
Just as the tiny spark of anger begins in the heart, so can it be extinguished most easily there. We work on a calming spirit through meditation, prayer, and good health. That spirit not only extinguishes a spark of anger, but controls the occasional brush fire before it gets out of control.
