Tuesday In the Fifth Week of Lent

I was always troubled by the parable about talents. We are taught at an early age to save, save, and save. So what did the guy do wrong by not losing the master’s talents?

I finally got it when I realized that Jesus wasn’t talking about money. Money was not big on Christ’s agenda. He was talking about the gifts of God, of which God has plenty and isn’t worried about us using them up.
God gives us all love and opportunity, and it is our task to spread it around and let it multiply. Give someone love and your love multiplies ten fold at least. Give someone an opportunity and opportunities multiply like rabbits. We are to spread God’s wealth, not hide it under our pillow at night.
This Lent we are called to examine the gifts God gives us, and determine how we can share and multiply them with our neighbors.
