Tuesday in the Third Week of Lent

Over the years, I always admired the Catholics who attended Mass every morning. Vince Lombardi was one. I thought they had their priorities set better than I.

I had an opportunity to talk to such a person recently, and I complemented him on his regular morning worship. His response surprised me: “I’m embarrassed that I am too busy to attend mass at other times of the day. If I had my priorities right, I would vary my attendance.  I should have more time in my day for God.”
I still find his attendance and his dedication remarkable, but I understood what he was getting at. We all need to carry on a constant conversation with God. I loved the musical/movie Fiddler On The Roof, for the continual dialogue with God. I’ll have to ask my Sufi friend Tom about Sufi practices regarding prayer.
There is no wrong way to pray, but when our everyday activity is infused with a running conversation with God, it becomes less like an obligation and more like a relationship.
