Lent is On Its Way

You didn’t think I’d let Ash Wednesday sneak up on you, did you? The Hubbell Pew began as a Lenten discipline years ago, and once again for the entire period of Lent daily meditations will come your way.

People think of Lent in different ways — a time for preparation, about consecration, traveling toward Easter and resurrection and renewal. Lent offers us a chance to silence the distractions that keep us from living a life of love, living in wonder rather than doubt. For many it is a time of fasting, a symbol of unity with the hungry and our hunger for God.
One of my most memorable Lents was experienced while I was on “sabbatical.” There isn’t much to sacrifice on “sabbatical” so I gave up grape pop, and my two buddies, Razor and Breeze, both gave up cake, although neither were what you might call devout. They did it for the “Fellowship.”
Whatever, you decide to do for and during Lent this is your wake-up call to put Ash Wednesday on your calendar, and join with us following the Pew during Lent, if for no other reason than the “Fellowship.”
