The Life Only You Can Live

If you want to live

the life that only you can live,

do good for others,

and when you have done good,

you will live life abundantly.

The words “the life that only you can live” grab me. Perhaps because they remind me of the line in The Legend of Bagger Vance by Steven Pressfield where the caddie tells Cap’n Juneau at the critical moment to “play the game as only you were meant to play it.” I wonder if Pressfield has a little Benedictine in him?

I think we all have a life, a game, only we are meant to live out. It is special, its unique, and when it includes doing good for others it is abundant. On this Monday as we start our morning meditation, the question we can, and perhaps should, be considering is in our uniqueness and with our own special gifts how do I do “good for others.” There are as many ways to help your fellow humans as there are stars in the skies, but in each of us is a life only we can live.

Begin this morning on a journey, that takes you to that special person only you can be.
